Default HKTS-15 or HKTS-18

So I'm relatively new to all of the Home AV stuff. After 10 years w/ the same old Sony receiver, I finally pulled the trigger to start upgrading my home theater. My basement home theater is only 12x15 so I don't need anything that's going to blow the doors off the place.

With that said, here's my current setup:

Sony 50" KDS-50A2000
Sony BDP-S500
XBox 360 (Component)
Nintendo Wii
Comcast Motorola HD DVR
Sony STR-DG820 (on-order)

I'm looking to finally jump into the world of surround sound and came across the Harman Kardon HKTS-15 and HKTS-18. They are only about $50-75 difference and one has a 100-watt sub while the other has a 200-watt sub.

Thoughts?

You said you had a 10 year old Sony receiver.... what speakers did you run with that one?

I've got 2 MB-115 Sony Bookshelf speakers. They're pretty decent. The other option I thought of was purchasing the SS-CR3000 to add a center channel and rears, then buy a woofer, and I'd be set.

My issue is I need to find decent stands for the bookshelf speakers because they're just sitting on the carpet right now.

I'd focus on getting the Front L/R and Center, and use the bookshelfs for your rear surrounds.... Sub and reciever.... lots of shopping to do

I would "Build" a system rather than buy from the box.

The bookshelfs that I'm using right now are fairly big, and can DEFINITELY be used as fronts. Do you know of any decent stands in the 25-30" height?

If your set on the HK packages, I would consider looking into the HKTS-11, which is similar to the HKTS-18. You can get it for $320 shipped from www.jandr.com

It'd depend on your speakers..... I purchased stands from the speaker manufacturer for mine. They were pricey, but the speakers can be "secured" to the stands, and they're very heavy, which is great.

I really liked the sound I heard the other day and w/ 10-year old bookshelf speakers, I might as well upgrade. It appears that the HKTS-11 and 18 are identical? Do you know the difference?

LOL.....your post was about 15 minutes too late. I had a $25 gift card at Amazon that allowed me to get the 11's for $294 shipped. Pulled the trigger. I'll see how they are
