Default Excalibur?

Has anyone heard if Warner is working on this for Blu? I know it was on HD DVD and did not have that great of PQ. It would be nice for them to remaster this.

My favorite movie on the Arthurian Legends. Sooooo much better than that Kiera Knightly P.O.S. Purchase guaranteed if done correctly.

As it's Warner I wouldn't hold your breath Most likely be the same encode, on a BD25, with lossy sound! Hope I'm wrong though because it's a bloody good film.

I remember seeing this when it came out and thought it was amazing.

Recently I watched it again and turned it off half way through it was so bad. Sigh. This movie should be the poster child for movies that aren't quite as aweseome as you remember.

a remake of this Boorman classic?..jesus...

why not remake Deliverance with Ashton Kutcher while they are at it and call it "Dude, Where's my Virgin Cornhole?"

Yeah, I love Excalibur and hope it gets the Blu-Ray treatment.

Would be neat to have some interviews with the epic cast like Nicol Williamson, Nigel Terry, Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne, etc etc.. I could go on.

Most of Excalibur's cast are now well known talent.

You couldn't really remake Excailibur today with the same feel. It would probably get the same treatment that Clash of the Titans is getting.

A Soulless action sequence with some heavy metal playing in the background and some one liners that would all come together to make a great trailer but a very forgettable movie.

The picture quality is not too bad on the HD DVD. I have it and did not think it was as bad as the reviews made out. I agree that the film could look better, but my bet is that the BD will be a port of the HD DVD transfer.

Was the DVD non-anamorphic? I seem to remember that it was anamorphic, though I have not seen it in a while.

Yes, the DVD was anamorphic and the HD DVD was noticeably better in VQ.

That was my recollection too. Thanks for the confirmation!

The director's commentary was quite good too, once it got going.

No problem and that's just John Boorman for you.

Default what happened to EXCALIBUR ??

This title was released on the (now defunct) HD system. Early this year (I believe at the January CES) Warners said it would be out on Blu-Ray in 2010. We only have four months left to this year but no word or announcements about a release date. Has anyone heard or seen anything about it?
