Default Is collecting Blu-rays an addiction?

I'm up to 175 titles now and it's growing. I am driving my wife nuts who gives the quote: "Why do you spend so much money on movies you don't have time to watch?" She makes a valid point only in that there's only so much time to watch 175 movies. But, it's addictive to collect HD movies and having your all time favorites with almost perfect picture and sound is tough to pass up.

Do any of you have a similar addiction that drives your wives/husbands crazy?

I have a small addiction that basically started this summer but considering I'm 19 I don't have a spouse to annoy me. So, yay.

Respond by asking her why she has 200 pairs of shoes when you only have 1 pair of feet?

Yes it can be an addition just like collecting anything else.

That's true. If it were up to me, I'd have a lot more, so I consider myself a little patient.

I'm 19, although my parents don't really care what I buy with my money, wich is great! I'm a big fan of collecting Limited/Collector's Editions so it does cost me quite alot of money though, but I think it's worth it. For me buying LE/CE's is an addiction yes!

trust me, they've spent much more on purses, clothes, and shoes than you've spent on blu-rays, clothes, and shoes. it's science.

When you become a "collector" i think it always turns into a addiction at some point. You just need to learn restraint and try to take in reasoning if you really need that extra movie etc...

I wouldn't count a hobby or someone's main interest an "addiction." Typically, an addiction is unhealthy, and has a negative connotation applied to it. So no, based on the definition of addiction, I don't think it counts.

What if you don't get enough sleep because you rent more movies than you can possibly watch in your free time? :P

It is an addiction if you want it to be or you let it happen. Otherwise it's nothing more then a fun hobby

I think that collecting movies can be an addiction whether they are Blu-ray, DVDs or even back in the days of VHS. But then, a collection of anything could be considered an addiction. I have to really watch myself because all they have to do is stick 'Volume 1' on the cover and I'm done for.

My name is Colin I have a problem. I discovered digibooks....

I have slowed down considerably now that I have a large collection. Sure, some people may have a thousand, but that's not large, that's having a store Blu-ray section at your house (you know, where you have to search to find anything worth a damn). I have some I'm keeping a price watch on, but as I near the 200 mark, the addiction is subsiding.
