Default What would Toy Story's PQ be if released?

If they were to bring out Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on Blu-Ray, is it possible that it could look as good as, for example, The Simpsons looked?

Have you seen Cars or Ratatouille? Both of those Pixar films are 5/5 on PQ. Expect the same quality for Toy Story.

They would be direct from the original computer files. As good probably better

I guess with enough effort it could look as good as Ratatouille. I've never seen the movie, but I've heard great things about the BD transfer. For CG movies it's easier to do the transfer.

was the original movie even worked on in 1080p? I doubt it will look as good as Rat considering animation alone has came along way since then.

Toy Story doesn't have 1/10th the fine detail that Ratatouille does. There simply wasn't the tech or the horsepower for it in 1995. Simpsons is a far better comparison

CGI stuff almost always looks great, and even a slightly older one like this should be at least a 4/5.

They look excellent, at least they did on BBC HD, the problem is they look very plain in comparison to recent Pixar movies, more like a basic videogame.

Potentially Pixar could re-render Toy Story for Blu Ray with extra detail. What it would look like is anyone's guess. Toy Story 3 is supposedly being worked on so who knows...

Otherwise I expect it will still look pristine as it did when it was released since a perfect digital copy of it is likely to exist.

That's what I was thinking, too. No matter how much effort is put into it, I can't imagine it look as good as Cars did.

Toy Story and Toy Story 2, are headed back to movie screens October 2nd, 2009 and February 12th, 2010, respectively, with a complete digital 3D makeover, called Disney Digital 3D to be exact. I'm sure that both will look great on Blu.

I think, if I recall correctky, TS was a 1.5K render so about 924 x 1536 to cover the European 1.66 Camera Aperture? So then you would have seen more or less around 790 x 1466 on a US screen.

And the DVD have about 1/8 of it coming from a ANALOG source since they didn't keep all the data on the HDD.

im sure that the PQ will be as dope as possible for an animated movie from '95. My guess is all the new CG Blus (Bee Movie, Rat, Cars, Open Season, etc) will look better than Toy Story but Im sure they will pull out all the stops to make it as good as possible

I saw Toy Story on ABC HD a year or so ago and thought it looked fabulous, so I think it's safe to say that it will look great when it is released on Blu Ray. Keep in mind that the CG itself is far inferior to modern CG like Ratatouille and Wall-E, though.

Considering that they are remastering them for 3D release, i would say the PQ will be phenomenal

I don't expect this movie to be so good on blu-ray. I saw a short part in the theatrical trailer of enchanted and it wasn't so good.
