Default Question on hooking up a Blu-ray to a DVI T.V.

I have a Polaroid hdtv that has a dvi input. I know I can buy a cable that has hdmi to dvi. But I won't get any sound. Is there any device out there that can help me get sound. If not can I hook up speakers using component cables to the Blu-Ray and use the dvi input for video?

are you connecting to a sound system? or just playing audio through the TV speakers?

if through TV speakers, just connect HDMI-DVI Cable for video and red/white analog RCA cable for audio.

I have a PS3 and those don't have the av cable outputs. Rather than buying a new tv I'm thinking about buying a normal Blu-ray player. I wasn't sure if the normal Blu-ray players have av output. I suppose they do from your post. I think I will go that way rather than buy a new t.v. I wish I would have bought a normal player rather than a PS3. I never play games on the thing.

buy a sound system or...

AV Composite Cable for Sony PS3 (included when you bought the PS3?)

...use HDMI-DVI for video, and the red/white for audio.

Crackinhedz- Holy Cow! Thanks. It took me 30 minutes to find that. When I first bought the PS3 I tossed that aside because I thought that was a generic HDMI cable. I didn't realize that was for audio for a t.v. without a HDMI input. You just saved me $500.00. I was going to buy a new Blu-ray player. Mad props brother.

The other option of course is to run HDMI out of the PS3 to a AV Receiver or sound processor that accepts HDMI and then run your HDMI to DVI cable from the sound processor to your HDTV.

(That's what I do.)
