Plug it into the spot that says HDMI in the back of the ps3...then plug into your tv...If the ps3 works and you can play blu rays and games and they look good...Then yes you made a excellent choice

Why didn't you buy a MONSTER HDMI cable?!?!?

Obviously that last sentence was an outright attempt at humour... notice how I used the word ATTEMPT? Anyways, once the cable arrives hook it up before disconnecting the old cable from the PS3. That way, when switching the video settings on the PS3, your screen won't blank out leaving you without a visual of what you are doing. Once the HDMI signal appears fine on your TV and you make the proper menu selections to keep it that way, THEN disconnect your old video cable. I first disconnected my old cable and plugged the HDMI in only to get a black screen. Drove me nuts for a half hour before I realized that I needed to tell the PS3 that it was going to be running via HDMI.

it doesnt matter so much on which HDMI cable you get they are pretty much all the same. some might have cheap material used on it thus making an unsatisfied customer but i would say you made a good choice even though it doesnt have to be that long unless your tv has some good amount of distance from where you are going to connect it to

Very good advice. The same thing happened to my nephew, and it took me forever to figure it out.

You don't need to do this. If you flip the power switch on the back of the PS3 (to get the red light), then hold your finger on the power button for like 3-5 seconds to turn it on, it will automatically detect how it is hooked up, so you will receive a picture.

I learned this after trying to figure out a better way of transporting my PS3 between my house (HDMI connection) and my dad's house (composite cables ).

congrats on the excellent choice in HDMi cables! Monoprice is the absolute best place on the planet to buy any cable! Enjoy those pixars....we really know that they are for you and not your kids lol, but thats cool because pixar movies rock!
