Default I got Gangs of New York Early from Best Buy

I actually got it on tuesday but I decided to watch it first. It looks really good, but there is something off about the PQ. I have a bunch of pics, could someone tell me how to post them?

Check out the Bit rate!

And finally pics of the case:

I'd be interested to see them. I think most people upload to Photobucket or one of the other image hosting sites, then link to the pictures to include them in their messages.

It's tough to really see the quality of the film from your iPhone pictures, but the general consensus about Gangs of New York is that the quality is very low due to EE (Edge Enhancement) and DNR (Digital Noise Reduction).

there is definitely EE, but DNR means they remove the grain or something right? there is still some grain but it looks... strange. still looks good though. 4/5

Everything is too red. Hard to see if it's good quality.

If that large screencap of Daniel Day Lewis above is from the Blu ray disk, then it is truly woeful.

Default Gangs of New York

I just watched this on Blu and I have to say that this is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. DDL was robbed of that Oscar. Adrian won because of political stuff. And he's third (Broody) in my rankings for that year behind Edward Norton in American History X. He was just not as good as DDl.

So true. lol. Ther Will Be Blood was the first movie I had ever seen with DDL in it. Blown away doesn't even qualify as a term to describe what I felt from his performance.

Oh yes, no doubt about it. He was definitely gave a brilliant performance.. but the question is... Which one deserved the Oscar the most?

Yeah I would say DDL deserved it that year too, but the academy sucks. Peter Otoole is one of the greatest movie stars of all time who has been in some of the greatest films ever made in the history of film. Hes dedicated his life to theater and been nominated 8 times for oscars and never won. But that no talent american idol runner up has one and we haven't seen her since. No one cares about her like she deserved it. The academy usually screws up who really deserves it and DDL couldn't be passed up last year with a performance like that.

Uh.... American History X was released in 1998. Gangs of New York and the Pianist were released 5 years later. Regardless, of the five nominees that year, I absolutely loved Day-Lewis in Gangs of NY, Nicholas Cage (!) in Adaptation and Jack Nicholson in About Schmidt. All three delivered very strong performances - three of my favorites actually - and it was a great year for that category. The other two, Mr. Brody and Michael Caine in The Quiet American were good as well, but I didn't feel their performances were all that different from their usual work.

Default Is Gangs Of New York Worth Picking Up?

I bought Drillbit Taylor today and saw they also had Gangs Of New York. I almost picked it up blindly but decided I better wait and see what people on here thought first. So do you think its good enough to buy?
