Default Question on Sony BDP-S300

Hi

I did some searching but nothing popped up.

I just got this player Sony BDP-S300 and am using a Phillips 42" Plasma HDTV. The picture is great, don't get me wrong. When there are dark colors on the screen (while watching a movie) there seems to be some pixels at times. I guess its not as perfect as I was expecting.

There are scenes which are colorful and just perfect. But any dark colors seem to be pixeled(?) a little bit.

Just wondering if there is something I could do about this.

Thanks, and sorry if its a silly quesiton.

How are you hooked up? Hdmi or component?

What output is your BD player setup for? There is a button on your remote labeled "Video Format". Each time you press it toggles you thru 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080i and 1080P. Make sure it's set to 1080P, if your Samsung can handle it, otherwise it should be set to 720P or 1080i.

Lastly, as the previous poster said, what movie were you watching?

I calibrated my TV once I got it(before blu-ray). I'll try tinkering with all the options to see if there would be any difference.

I was watching AVP and Hostel both had the same issue.

Sorry, I am using HDMI cables only.

Thanks for the replies,

Yes, I'm using HDMI cables. I will try calibrating the TV a bit.

I was watching Aliens vs Predator and Hostel.

Probably, film grain. Turn your sharpness way down.

Here is a little thread that might help.

There is a lot on this forum about this.
