Due for release on 20/10/2008
![]() Quentin Tarantino rocked the film world with this powerful and controversial debut movie. Set mainly in a warehouse in the aftermath of a bungled robbery the story gradually unfolds to introduce the colour-coded gangsters and the planning of the crime step by step, through Tarantino's trademark flashbacks. Four have survived after a police ambush - betrayed. What went wrong and who is the betrayer? Brilliantly scripted and complemented by the 70's retro soundtrack, the scenes are stylish and violent yet intelligent and full of dark humour. With stunning performances by Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Steve Buscemi and Michael Madsen, Reservoir Dogs is a tense and exciting examination of male ego on a collision course that results in an unforgettable climax. * Match book style inlay * Art cards * Commentary with Quentin Tarantino, producer Lawrence Bender and selected cast and crew * Pulp Factoid Viewer * The Critics' Commentaries * Playing It Fast and Loose * Profiling the Reservoir Dogs * Tipping Guide * Deleted Scenes * The Class of '92: Sundance Interviews * Tarantino's Sundance Institute Film-makers Lab * An Introduction to Film Noir: Writers and Film-makers feature * Dedications - Tarantino on his influences * Securing the Shot: Location Scouting with Billy Fox feature * Original Interviews with Tarantino and cast * Reservoir Dolls * K-Billy Super Sounds of the 70's * Reservoir Dogs Style Guide http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/6.../Product.html# Last edited by david2189; 08-13-2008 at 12:53 PM. |

i got to agree, i dont mind steelbooks, i love steelbooks but when you take a DVD case and make it into a gas can, or a homers head (simpsons) or a life raft (weekend at bernies) wtf can i do with it, i can sit it in the shelf like a normal dvd it makes everything look retarted lol

Actually, this packaging is identical to the long-available R1 DVD release.
Generally, I hate special packaging. This is a slightly different case, though. My big peeve with special packaging is how easily it gets damaged (especially if you do a lot of mail-order like me) But a metal gas-can is by definition is pretty sturdy (and should protect the cardboard of the matchbook) although it is much more of a nuissance to open. (Interestingly, my R1 DVD did arrive with the centre 'holder' things broken (a phenomenon I've seen on plenty of standard jewel cases. But, I doubt that has anything to do with the choice of packaging.) It is slightly clever, though, and it does fit pretty inconspicuously onto a shelf (the gasoline can is about the size and shape of normal dvd case) I still think one of the minor advantages of HDDVD and Bluray is the very small, 'neat' cases. (At least in America. Australian cases tend to be the same thickness as DVD so they can still fit the Australia 'anti-theft' things into them when sold in shops.) But, I will give kudos to the R1 packaging as being genuinely clever and, most importantly, sturdy & unobtrusive. |
