Default General Advice

Hi All,
Just joined today and was wondering if I could tap into the expertise that's floating around and possibly have some model numbers thrown my way.

I am about to jump into the BD world and was looking for some advice. This will be my first BD player (purchasing in the next 30 days or so). I am not the deep afficiando like some of you but am looking for a good player to watch movies (Optoma EP716 projector) with the family (and play CDs too). I'll be hooking it to my basic surround sound system either with fiber or rca. So, I think I am really looking at something better than low end and close to mid-range.

Any thoughts, ideas, bargains?

Thank you

T

The PS3 (IMO) is still the best blu player.

For now.

The best price-quality player is the PS3 who play cd, dvd and Blu-Ray (and ps games)

IMHO, if you are planning to hook it up with fiber, then go for the PS3, like the others said as well. But if you are planning to use your rca's you'd better choose the Panasonic BD-50 (if you want to be a little future proof with BD-Live), since the PS3 has no surround analog outputs (only stereo).

I'm on board with the PS3 advice as well. Most economical and versatile player available. And, you get a hell of a lot more out of the unit that a BD player.

I'd have to agree with the previous posts. Get a PS3. I love my PS3!
