Default Sony 350 or Samsung 2550

I recently purchased the S350 and the next day the Sammy 2550 comes out. I haven't read a direct comparison to the two, but I am thinking about returning the Sony and getting the Sammy. However, I have a Denon 1740 as a dvd player, so upconverting isn't a concern. My experience with Samsung (2 tv's and a dvd/vcr combo) has not been good. All pieces of equipment were a letdown, so that makes me hesitant.

A PS3 is not an option. I don't play videogames and BDLive is useless for me.

Any input here would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Well samsung players are better then they were 2 years ago, but still not there IMHO... it takes a lot of time for them to fix issues..

what receiver are you using?

...and what is the main reasoning for returning the s350? That should be an excellent player, returning it for another player would almost be a waste of time unless there is some feature you are missing out on?

I've never really trusted a Samsung product, know too many people that have had issues with them. I hear the customer support can be horrid. I have the s350 and would only consider the s550 or a pioneer model.

If you must buy something because it is more expensive, then wait for the $2k Pioneer Elite.

I think you answered your own question. Wait on the Sony.

BTW, I have Samsung products. Never, ever again will I buy anything made by them. Worst nightmare of my life with their products and support.

I too currently have the S350, but have been thinking of either new upcomming Panny's (BD35 or BD55) or the Sony S550. But after reading up on this new Samsung 2550, and it having one of the best S DVD upscalling HQV chips in it, I do have to say hmmmmmmmmmm. As I still have a huge collection of old DVD movies (LOL, calling DVD old now? Laser discs and VHS are old), and don't want to spend $$$ twice to get the same movie in BD, having the Reon HQV upscaller in the 2550 really makes me think hard about getting one. I have an Onkyo 805, and prefer bitsream anyway, so internal decoding is not a worry for me. But BD and DVD PQ is now the most important item for me concerning a player. And as there are no S550's out yet, and thus no reviews, I can't tell how good it would do S DVD upcalling

I bought a refurbished Denon 1740 on eCost for less than the difference between the s350 and the 2550. I think that was a good move. I am completely satisfied with it.
