Default making a hard choice

well we are up grading our 42 inch hp-t4254 smasung plasma, we went to american today and auditioned a couple lcd's, plasma's, and samsungs led dlp
well the three tv's i found to be the best in our price range are the samsung ftp-5084, panasonic 46pz85, and the sony kdl46w, o and my gf likes the the led lcd, i actually got to test the panny, and the sony with my ps3 but the a**hole sales person wouldn't let me hook it up to the led sammy because it was up on the shelf and it was a liability,so i am going by what my eyes had seen from there feed with that tv. As for the sammy plasma ftp 5084 they didn't have a floor model but the reviews i read are good, i think the sammy plasma is the best choice considering it's 1599 and it has all the specs i want but every one raves about the panny's but when i compared it with the sony i really didn't see a difference, the sony it's self is really nice . Plus i have to take my gf choice into consideration. all theses tv's are pretty much in the same price rang and they pretty much have the same specs and around the same size's except the huge led dlp. so if anyone ones these or has compared one to the other could you please leave me some feed back please. the room that it will be in is my living room its not to bright and we sit about 8-9ft away and pretty much straight on, any feed back will be grateful

Without actually calibrating the TV's (just using factory presets), it is very hard to make a visual comparison as those settings are not ideal nor accurate for home viewing. The contrast levels are blasted way too high, color is inaccurate...etc.

Based on the TV's you have mentioned, im sure they will each look wonderful so I don't think you could make a mistake any which way you go...but the picture you saw in the store may or may not be how it looks at home.

Woah....he was very confused!

Short of the Pioneer Kuros....Panasonic has the best plasma out there.

Check out some revies online for that model - and the owners threads here and at AVS. Seeing what the owners think about their set is a good indication of how well you'll enjoy it.

i am happy with my TV. Remember I am on a Circuit City salary and this for $999 was all i had enough for. But I wouldnt trade it in for anything

and the reason the Panasonic Plasma is so good is because all the problems the first gen plasmas had like 1) Burn in 2) High energy consumption 3) Glare
4) Hours of life have all been fixed with these Panny Plasmas

1)Burn in- Panasonics Answer: Pixel Retension
2)High Energy- Panasonic Answer: It is now one of the few energry star efficent plasmas
3) Glare: Panasonic Answer: Anti Reflective screen it now has less glare then
a Samsung 650 750 or 850 LCD

4) Short TV life: Panasonic Answer: now has like 100,000 hours of TV Life

And of course it still has everything Plasmas were known famously for like great colors, fast refresh (480 subdivision) and great black levels.

And although not very familiar with X.v color the panasonic plasmas have this and 24p playback (the 80u 85u and the 800u)

SO why not get a Panasonic Plasma
