the Akai LCT3201AD

I've read that it supports 720p and 1080i (isn't 1080 supposed to be the 1900x1200 res..) according to the spec's I read it's actual cable res is..

1366 x 768 (I believe this is 720p?)

So here's my questions/problems..

Mainly wanting to use it as a monitor (and am in this writing) the laptop only supports VGA port (as most do.. no HDMI)

When I go into properties system there is no selection for that Res there's.. there's 1280 x 768 4:3? and then there's 1440 x 900 16:9 (I believe)

So here's the question or confusion.. this laptop has a 17" I believe 16:9 screen.. and the Akai should be acting the same way.. but of course they don't seem to support the same resolutions (meaing of course if I hit either resolution.. I get a screen stretch for the rest)

Do I need to force the video card into the support resolution or what are my options toward using what should be available?

In addition what's a recommended video player for 16:9 screens for some 4:3 content without stretching.. (maybe wmp.. but if so what setting?)
