Exclamation Samsung BDP1600 > PS3 slim > ??

So here's the deal, I started with a Samsung BD-P1600, it started giving me issues a few months into it. Some blu-ray players would not play, some would freeze mid-way or skip. The firmware was up to date, bottom line, the player had a bad rep. with many customers, and was a shitty player. After much unnecessary frustrations, and some consideration I bought the PS3 slim (120gb), It's been a year and now the PS3 will only play blu-rays selectively. Again, firmware is up to date 3.7! It played flawlessly at first, until the second time I upgraded the firmware. Now, I don't use it every day, and it's main usage has been for watching the blu-rays the samsung wouldn't accept, or play correctly.

I read other people having the same problem where it wont play blu-rays, but it will accept regular DVD's. Has anyone solved the problem? (I would contact sony, but apparently they charge an insane amount of money after it's over its warranty time frame).

My only other solution would be to invest in YET ANOTHER blu-ray player! Any thoughts?

Is your PS3 still in warranty (wanted to ask)? You could call Sony and call for a repair and they should repair it or give you a replacement.

Here are my thoughts and opinions on the matter:

You could and probably should try the "Digital Innovations Clean Dr. Laser Lens Cleaner"

Go here to read one success story with 4-ish year old Ps3. http://www.amazon.com/review/R1GJZ9D...8642&linkCode=

Also, I recommend that clean your disc with something like the "GameDr Classic Disc Cleaner":

http://www.amazon.com/GameDr-60603-C...771416&sr=8-16

It is a spray cleaner that comes with a special cloth for cleaning the bottom side of your optical discs.

The combination of these two things should help to prolong the life of your media and player. You should try this and then if your ps3 still doesn't work then you could/should try contacting Sony!!!!

@Trogdor2010, yes it's been over a year sadly.

and @darthtron, I'm gonna give that a shot, worth a try. I haven't really ever cleaned it, and I rarely use it (as much as I love movies) because I barely have the time with my busy schedule.

all the movies I've been trying to play are brand new, but like I said, it will play certain blu-rays selectively—like the exorcist, it never fails to play that one! lol

Thanks for the input, I'll try cleaner and see if that works.

so I tried all this things and none of them worked! Do you guys think the laser just needs to be replaced? I've read of cases where that is the problem.
