Default sound out of tv but no surround

i need a quick answer guys, i searched but couldnt find. i have my onkyo sr 800 surround sound hooked up to my tv. i have a hdmi cable coming from blu player to receiver then another hdmi coming from receiver to tv. i have the picture and sound coming from tv but how do i switch to the surround sound speakers? and i dont have my manual anymore sorry. thanks

o.k....

make sure you're selecting the input (that the HDMI "in" is going to on the receiver) selected, and turn it up, if you can hear it, then make sure you turn down the sound on the t.v..... but your HDMI "out" on the receiver should only be sending a video signal to the t.v. anyways.

According to the review on Cnet, your system does not allow audio to pass through HDMI (meaning the HTIB won't play audio). Sounds like you need to run Toslink (optical) from your BD player to your HTIB and have your player set to bitstream.

edit: I take it the list of equipment in your sig is a wish-list, as I don't see an Onkyo HTIB listed?

haha no its not a wish list. i didnt have room to put the onkyo in my sig. its wrong but i voted him off the island when i got the new stuff. but thanks for your input im gonna go try and figure this out.

thanks guys. i was forgettin the optical cable. i moved 2 months ago and now im settin it back up. forgot it dosent pass audio through hdmi. i appreciate it.
