Default Help With Blu-ray/Reciever Settings

I read a few pages of the "Bitstream vs PCM" thread but I still cannot figure out which to use for my situation (I feel so dumb)

I Have a Panasonic SC-HT56 Home Theater Receiver and a Panasonic DMP-BD35 Bluray player.

From what I understand the receiver does NOT decode the higher quality formats (DTS-HD and True-HD), but the blu-ray does. So should I set the blu-ray settings to Bitstream vs PCM?

EXAMPLE: I was watching MAD MEN, the setting on the blu-ray was BITSTREAM, and on the receiver it said DTS. I think that is what confused me and the way the blu-ray manual stated the setting choices.

ALSO, if anyone owns any of these items, ARE THERE ANY OTHER SETTINGS I SHOULD MAKE SURE TO SET A CERTAIN WAY?

The manual for the SC-HT56 is a little unclear on PCM input, but it looks like the unit will process multichannel PCM over HDMI. In that case, you will want to set the digital outputs on the BD35 to PCM and set Secondary Audio to Off. On the receiver, set the Input mode to Auto or Dig. That combination will set the player to decode lossless tracks and output them as PCM over HDMI to your receiver for processing.
