Default 300 Blu compared to 300 HD Satalite?

I do not own this movie yet. I saw it when it first came out on disc on a small 27" tv non HD. I've been wanting to buy it, and I see it's in the bargin box at Amazon. Now I read the reviews and it says the grain is supposed to be there. On the Satalite dish last night there seemed to be a LOT of it. I'm guessing Blu Rays have better quality then what coming through my satalite dish. I have direcTV. Other then the two coax cables from the satalite to the satalite box. Everything is hooked up with HDMI cables. My question is. Does the 300 Blu have less grain then what I saw on Tv last night? Also, the new 300 limited edition comong out. Is that the same movie disc that is in the one thats already out now? I'm not an extra guy so I'll go for the deal if it's the same quality.

I also have it on Blu and it is one of my grainier movies. But i read somewhere that is how the movie was intended to be. Still one of my favorite movies though

The movie may not have less grain. but the grain may be less intrusive. Satellite broadcasts are compressed to save as much bandwidth as possible, and grain plays hell with bad compression. What looks like grain on the BD might translate to video noise in the satellite broadcast. The film is supposed to be grainy, that is the look that Zack Snyder went for, so you're never going to get away from it. But grain and noise are two different things. Also, the satellite broadcast may not be in the proper aspect ratio. The film was origianlly presented in 2:4 and the satellite might broadcast may be cropped at 1:85 or 1:78 so it fills up an entire 16:9 frame.

Yes, the movie is suppose to show grain and the Blu blows away the satellite version because the BD is encoded at 1080p and the audio is outstanding with two lossless tracks(PCM and DTHD).

KingDavid is right there will be an '300: Ultimate Collector's Edition' on Blu-ray to coincide with the standard DVD re-issue. I saw this on High Def Digest.

I actually think the BD is less grainy than at the theater. I preferred the over-the-top grainfest in the theater. Looked raw and dark and evil.

Yes, it is VERY grainy. As others have said though, that is the directos intent and it was added on purpose. When the new Blu-ray comes out check out the PIP feature on making the film. When I ownded the HDDVD version it had this PIP and if ithey would not have artificially added all the grain it would have been the most lifelike pic yet on Blu-ray but it would have also made most of the scenes look really fake. Overall it was probably best they used the grain.
