Default I bought this setup, but need some advise

Hi all.

First time poster and total newbie in the audio world. So I need some help which in simple terms tell me some things

First of all. I am going with a pure Sony setup. From what I read here that could get me some bashing, but it can do what I want (I think so anyway, from the research I have done so far) and I can get it on a budget I can afford.

First off I bought the kdl-40w4500 which no doubt was the most expensive piece. I have had that for around a month now and very happy with it.
Next I'm gonna get the bdp-s550
And lastly a new receiver the STR-DG820

I will be getting them(the S550 and DG820) at some point during the next month

--
So my first question is:
Will this give me the full Audio Features needed to decode all the blu ray formats? From I can find out it will. But does anyone know if I'm missing out on something?

My main question is about my speakers. It will be awhile before I can even consider getting new speakers for this. But I am also very happy about the old ones I have right now. In my ears they sound amazing. But how do they match up to a system like this? Can they even?
Some of you might want to slap me. But they are old (really old) speakers from my first surround sound setup. The main problem is that I really don't understand what to look for on speakers. So I will list what is standing on the back of my speakers. Please be gentle and don't hack me down on this and tell me what I really should be looking for once I can afford it or if this would be ok and for a longer while.

All the speakers are Jamo. (spec acc. to IEC268.5)
Front: (x2)
Jamo Sat 200 II
Long term: 50 W
Short Term: 60 W
Impedance: 8 Ohm

Back:
Jamo Surround 100 II
Long term: 45 W
Short Term: 55 W
Impedance: 8 Ohm

Center:
Jamo Center 160
Long term: 75 W
Short Term: 105 W
Impedance: 8 Ohm

Subwoofer:
Jamo SW 200 II
Long term: 2 x 100 W
Short Term: 2 x 150 W
Impedance: 8 Ohm

That you all in advance for the advices you might give me

Everything looks good for HD audio!!! You might want to upgrade the speakers down the road, but if you are happy with them they will definitely work.

My only concern is the subwoofer, is it passive?

One of the most important things to look out for is the impedance until you get into more advanced stuff make sure they 8 ohm.

Thanks for the quick replies.

JasonR: Ok. Things are looking bright then Regarding the Subwoofer. I think its passive after what I can find out. But again, the newb in me gotta ask. What is the differents between a active and passive sw?

zweet77: Well my current speakers are 8 Ohm. So far it seems they will work for me then

An active has an amp on the sub, passive is powered by the receiver.

If you have a passive now, you will want to look into upgrading to an active sub.

Yes, you would want an active sub for the 820.
