I remember this film being advertised on blu when I got my PS3ON LAUNCH DAY!!! I was so stoked and I saw it on TV today and it motivated to start this thread and ask what the hell?

Blu-ray.com doesn't have one listed, and they tend to list even the most speculative release dates, if available.

I have seen this a few times on one of the HD channels on cable...man it looks gorgeous..and that is ONLY 1080i.

Well knowing Sony, they'll probably announce it very soon and then cancel it just a few weeks before it's scheduled release date.

Apparently, Sony was very disappointed with the sales of Close Encounters and decided to push back El Aurens. This was discussed a few months ago. Do a search. You may find it.

The title is planned for 2009. The insiders have talked about the title on many occasions. Bill posted it on his site as should be arriving in 2009.

I think the only David Lean movie on Blu-ray is A Passage to India which is an odd choice to say the least. Besides Lawrence of Arabia, I look forward to seeing The Bridge on the River Kwai, Doctor Zhivago, and Ryan's Daughter on Blu-ray. As you may have already quessed from the graphic under my user name, Lawrence of Arabia is my all time favourite movie. I rate it as the greatest movie of all time.

Sony already did a great job with the Blu-ray of A Passage to India, so hopefully they'll step it up a notch with Lawrence of Arabia.

have none of you have seen this on HDNet Movies - oh you're in for a treat... it might not have been broadcast in 1080p, but wow! a stellar 65mm to video transfer is in the cards for the eventual bluray edition.
