Default How many HDMI should one have

How many HDMI do I need in a receiver . I dont think I plan on adding anything to my set up so how many should I have? I'm upgrading my receiver the Pioneer has only 2 (1.3) inputs and 1 output. Do I need more? See my set up below. Thank you all

Well it all depends. What is the receiver you are looking at? If you upgrade with sattelite or something else, it would be benificial to have more. If you like the receiver that much, you can just buy an HDMI switch down the road, which aren't too expensive.

I guess it depends on how you want to wire your system. I have a HDMI cable running from my DVD player and a HDMI cable running from my Blu ray player to my receiver. From there I run just one HDMI cable to my TV. It works great. I think my receiver has 4 HDMI inputs. (Have not looked at the back of it in awhile). I would suggest you get a receiver with at least two and preferrably three HDMI inputs. And make sure they all support 1.3 or whatever the latest version is. Always "overbuy" if the budget will allow. Sooner or later you will be glad you did. Just my opinion.

4 HDMI inputs sounds about right. The extra HDMI could be used for an HDMI switch.

Depends on whether you intend to add a cable TV box to your rig. On one setup, I have a Blu-Ray player, a home theater PC, a cable box, and a multi-DVD player (the 400 unit kind from Sony), so I need four HDMI ports.

On the other rig, it's just the cable box and a PC. So it depends what you're going to connect up.

More is better, I'd look for a unit with at least three inputs.

More is better because who knows where you will be with your equipment in a year or two down the road.
Don't limit yourself

Thats my 4 cents
