PS3 Locking up with Fast Five disc - Blu-ray Forum

I was watching the extended Fast Five on my 40gb PS3 when it froze at the 34 min mark. I reset and it happend again. I figured it might be a firmware issue so I switched over to my Samsung player and the movie played fine without locking up. After I checked and there was a firmware update for my 40gb PS3. After the update it still froze at the same scene. I tried my other 80gb PS3 and it also froze at the same scene. I tried the theatrical version and again it froze up at the same scene. Any ideas guys?

Update: My 80gb PS3 does not freeze up, the the 40gb PS3 still does at the same scene. The disc is clean so I don't get it. Could my 40gb laser be on it's way out?

Laser might be going bad. Happened to me last year.

Strange that it only happens with this movie at the exact same scene. I guess I'll be watching my other new purchases tonight to see if I can duplicate the problem.

Ran perfectly on my 120GB PS3 (my Fast 5 is the BB steelbook version).

This is the porch scene where Dom and Brian where talking right after Mia revealed her "situation". I had the same problem, mine was a Best Buy steelbook. I went back to BBuy yesterday and told them about the problem, CSR asked me to grab another one and swapped the disc. Everything's is okay now, no more skipping. Of course YMMV.
