Default Does anyone know how...

So, I got a new polo shirt at Abercrombie, and when I got home I found out the idiot cashier forgot to take out the security thing. I called them and asked if they could take it off, but they can't without the receipt. And of course, I threw away the receipt.

Does anyone know how to take these things off? I have a new $65 shirt that I can't even wear

And you didn't beep on the way out.

Or were you running too fast to notice?

There is a way, my sister used to work at Old Navy and was told a way to do it without the machine, but I cant remember

Different stores use different tags. When I worked at Old Navy years ago, the machine to take them off would bend the large piece, which allowed the pin piece to come loose.

Most people, I think, assume these things all have ink in them, so that they have to be careful about taking them off. Most don't, and the ones that do generally have a warning that there is ink, to help deter theft. $65 is an expensive shirt, but I don't think it's expensive enough to warrant protecting all of them in the store with ink tags.

The purpose of them isn't to prevent you from taking them off once you get home, but from making it harder for people to take out of a store in the first place. Either a) set the alarm off, or b) look really obvious as you hide in a corner of the store, trying to pop the tags off.

Anyhow, take any sort of screw-driver, and wedge it in between the two pieces, and try to pry the pin off. Shouldn't be too hard.

You could have kept it on and made it the new cool thing to do. Be the talk of the town.
