Can these digital copies be played on any mp3 player or are they only compatable with certain players. Im hoping to get a mp3 player soon, maybe for x-mas. Im probably looking to get a sandisk one that plays video. Will something like this work with the digital copies.

I've looked through a # of other websites and a lot of posts on here and can't seem to find what I'm looking for regarding digital copies.
I've gotten ones like The Incredible Hulk and The Matrix. Both awesome movies that I wouldn't mind having access to when I've got my laptop w/me. I've never used a digital copy before so forgive my ignorance. Here goes: 1: How much room do they typically take up on your harddrive?? 2: Once you put it on, if your laptop crashes, can you put it back on the same computer?? Does it get "registered" to that computer or is it gone?? 3: If I xfer the movie to an MP3 player, is it still accessible on my laptop?? I think that's it for now, thanks for any info. |

Yep, same here, Digital Copies are something of a mistery to me.
Their very name is not clear to me as a "digital copy" is any copy that is digital and not analog. So a Bluray, a DVD and a CD of either music or video are per say "digital copies". Now back to the branded Digital Copy, they say it allows you to watch the movie on your computer or portable devices and that's great but you can do that with any DVD. |

Most movies i put on my ipod are typically around 500mb-1bg. Something like LOTR would be 1gb
2. i can't really say, but i'd imagine you can put it on any device at anytime. I don't think they expire, that would be lame. 3. Yes you should be able to copy the movie mulitiple times I just clonedvdtomobile instead of digital copies. This way i can put all of my dvds' on any device i have that can play them ![]() Slysolf.com They have a 21 day free trial if you want to try it out. My thought of digital copies is that they are just disks with files on them of the movies that you have. Kind of like downloading a new program onto your computer. But than again, i've never owned a digital copy, i think they're pointless. |

Speed Racer - 1.28GB for computer and 648MB for the portable DC.
ONE USE!!! You got one use of the "code" for each copy(1.28GB and 648MB) and that's it! I had a self inflicted computer issue and had to restore an Acronis image. DCs were on the second drive. Went to play the 1.28GB one - it asked for the "code" - Exceeded use limit? http://digitalcopy.warnerbros.com/support/support.aspx How many times can my authorization code be used? The authorization code can be used once. One authorization code will provide 1 PC and 1 portable media device copy license. POS! Deleted them both! Talk about a waste... ![]() Last edited by dadkins; 10-31-2008 at 07:09 PM. Reason: Typo |

just a thought for getting digital copies, I was in my local family video and say that the dvd cases for harald and kumor:QB had the codes for the digital copy. It said you just needed the dvd, so I assume if you rent the dvd and take the code you can download the dc w/o actually buying the movie.

What a pain...
I bought a few movies this week... Incredible Hulk and Hitchcock and they both have a second disc for Digital Copies. I hate this crap... Even though I'm getting an ipod for my B-day this month (despite my protests because I'm really not into MP3's anyway.) I would rather make my own digital copies (from my DVDs) without the headaches of DRM that these come with. If I watch videos on my tiny ipod LCD ( just the thought of it irks me) it will be of stuff I can't get on Blu Ray. Like,.. the files I made of my Laserdiscs... those would like great on a postage stamp sized screen. The one for the hulk is just in a paper sleeve and it makes it harder to open and close the case. Grrr.. And if I ever do anything with these... it de-vaules the Blu Ray a bit (in terms of resale) since the code is used up. I hate these dumb digital copies!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() I bought the Blu Ray... I don't want the YouTube version... Please let this Digital copy crap be a fad and let it go away soon. -Brian Last edited by bhampton; 11-12-2008 at 02:22 PM. |

Well, my cpu crashed and I've actually used the code twice on some and some didn't work again. But all the new ones I get I'm saving them to my portable hard drive.
Because, it's not fair to lose a digital copy if and when your cpu crashes. You bought the movie and you should be able to store in your portable hard drive as long as you don't distribute it to anyone else. |

I know exactly what you mean. I can recall several nights crowding around a laptop screen watching just about anything for entertainment. Of course, all of my tours to the Stan were before Digital Copies, so I have yet to use them - but can see how others would.

Here's a thought: If you don't like DC, then just toss the disc, or ignore it. If studios listened to self-centered idiots (don't want digital copies, BD live, PIP, etc.,) then we wouldn't have Blu-ray now, would we? What's the difference if it's there or not? Just don't use it! Would it make the discs cheaper if they didn't include that stuff? NO! It doesn't now! Discs loaded with extras cost the same as those with almost no suplimental material. This is basically the same argument as "DVD is good enough", and if the industry listened to those people, we wouldn't have movies in Hi-def... Quit your *****in' and let people enjoy movies their way while you enjoy them your way! ![]() |

The Hellboy disc came with a sheet that gives a "use by" date. But I think that's just for the initial load and with iTunes that you can reload a certain amount of times. If it works the same way as music then yes, you should be able to reload if something happens to the disk.
Of course you can avoid all that by BACKING UP!!!!! ![]() |
