Default Al Davis: Hospitalized after fall

Wait, wasn't he cast down from heaven a LONG time ago?

Quote:
Raiders owner Al Davis was hospitalized over the weekend after twisting his knee in a fall, a team source confirmed Thursday. KPIX originally reported the accident Davis, 79, had at the team hotel in San Diego before the Dec. 4 game against the Chargers. He attended the game, returned home with the team that night and was soon admitted to Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley. He was treated for fluid in his injured knee. Davis has been hobbled for several years with a quadriceps injury.
Now, personally, I have nothing against or for the Raiders organization (outside of the fact that they tormented my Jets from the 01-02 seasons) - but I really feel that his meddling has had a large part in their recent struggles to field competent teams, staff, and overall, a rough organization. I do think the fans deserve better, and I do think it starts with Davis giving up his powers of control. He's general manager, defensive coach - probably still thinks he's got Ken Stabler in there.

It's interesting to see some responses by fans around the web - let's just say a good 95% bear him SEVERE ill will. It seems they all, to put it bluntly, want him to just...pass away so their organization can resume respectability. One of my favorite ones is this one:

Cockroaches, twinkies, and Al Davis

You have to be dedicated to be a raiders fan in these days. My wife's cousin is and I give him a hard time about it. Of course, the Falcons are my team...
