Arrow TRON 2 is now titled TRZ (?)

WTF?

Courtesy of Cinema Blend, Disney has put out a new title and a plot synopsis for the sequel.

Quote:
“After being transported into the surreal landscape of a mainframe computer to destroy an intruder (Tron), a programmer finds himself allied with the leader of a rebellion against a corrupt cyber-entity.”

Read that synopsis carefully and you’ll get a few important clues as to what TRZ may be about. In the first movie a programmer named Flynn (Jeff Bridges) is sucked inside the computer to be destroyed. In the sequel, it sounds like the computer is bringing a programmer inside to help defend it. The test footage from Comic Con hinted at the possibility that Jeff Bridges might be playing the bad guy, an evil computer entity in the sequel. If that’s the case, it might actually make sense for a digitized Flynn, once a computer programmer himself, to bring in another programmer to aid him in fighting off rebels led by his once friend, Tron. The title may be awful, but as a story this is really starting to sound good.

Think "TRZ" may be some reporter's confused attempt to think that "TR2N" is the actual title (instead of the logo), but time will tell...

To me - it sounds like "The MCP Strikes Back". Flynn's residue got too powerful, and now the System brings in a different programmer to rid the system of Tron, and Flynn's residue (the replacement to the MCP)

Just saw this news about Tron 2.0

"Wilde and Garrett to Play Tron 2.0
Source: The Hollywood Reporter December 16, 2008

Olivia Wilde (Fox's "House," pictured left) and Beau Garrett (pictured down right), who appeared together in Turistas, are the first to sign on for Tron 2.0, the sequel to the 1982 Disney cult classic being directed by Joseph Kosinski.

Sean Bailey is producing along with Steven Lisberger, who co-wrote and directed the original film, and Jeff Silver.

The original, about a programmer thrust into a computer and forced to fight in games he helped create, is remembered for its sci-fi gladiator-style battles and groundbreaking special effects.

The new movie is acting as a "next chapter." Plot details are being guarded closely, but Wilde will play a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film.

Garrett will play a siren in the virtual world.

The male lead has not been cast, but the studio and filmmakers are screen-testing actors as it brings on other leads and supporting players.

Tron 2.0 is eyeing a spring shoot."
