Default Independence Day?

ok, i just picked this up on bd and i was under the impression it was the extended cut (153 minutes, like the special dvd). but it's the theatrical cut. any idea if the extended version will ever make bd?

I was just wondering about this BD myself and that's disappointing it's not the Director's Cut... anyone know how the PQ is?

I was a little disappointed in this one, the HD treatment made some of the effects laughable...

Yeah I was afraid of that (most CG films of the 90's don't hold up so well)... oh well, hopefully they'll re-release a better version with the DC in the future.

The sound quality is a incredible improvement, that's for sure, top notch work there - the video quality is incredible as well. It's one of my favorite popcorn flicks of the 90s, with great re-watch value! Worth a purchase, I think it's $20 at some Targets until today!

Funny, I watched this movie last night and never realized until now just how "CHEESY" the dialogue is. Seriously, listen to it. The JEW SMATZ from NY is funny though.

I've noticed Fox have a tendancy to release bog standard BD's (apart from titles like 'I, Robot' and 'The Fly') with hardly any extras, and with the theatrical cut version ('Kingdom of Heaven' and 'Dare Devil' being the rare exceptions).
'Fantastic Four', 'Commando', 'Die Hard 4.0', 'Mr and Mrs Smith', have had extended, unrated, director's cuts or whatever and only the theatrical version has been released with bugger all extras . Along with 'Independence Day', these are mainstream blockbuster titles that people would most likely buy again because its the extended cut or has extras - craftly eh?

When Fox thinks that they've sold enough copies of the current release.
