something i noticed while watching Goodfellas - Blu-ray Forum

so I am watching goodfellas on blu for the first time... i must say I'm impressed with the PQ however i noticed they cut out a scene in the movie...

the scene where the cops pull the gun out on henry hill in the car, then they knock on the door and karen panics and runs upstairs to flush the cocaine down the toliet, then puts the gun in her underwear, well it basically went from knocking on the door to her putting the gun in her underwear.. they cut out the whole scene of her cutting the coke..

does this happen on all the blus? is this a glitch on mine only?

anybody pick this up while watching this on blu?

i dont remember. but, im sure i seen it on my copy. what is the time frame on it? and, ill check it out tomorrow.

What do you mean? The scene of her dumping the coke in the toilet is still in the movie. I just watched Goodfellas on Blu-Ray the other day.

I watched it just yesterday. The specific scene with her cutting the package of coke while kneeling in front of the toilet and then dumping it in the toilet is on my disc.

Now I did notice a giant black line like a hair from the top to bottom of the print, perfectly in the middle for about 5 seconds when Jimmy tells Henry he has to go back to his wife. Anyone notice that?

yes i did notice that black line in the middle of the screen (it's vertical)... and i just went back a chapter and the scene with her flushing the coke is their.. i must have not been paying attention for a minute... but the black line is defintly their!

Maybe there's something wrong with your disc... and it "jumps" a couple of frames? You should check again.

The scene is in my region A Blu-ray.

I also noticed the line. I can't remember if that was on my dvd copy or not.

Only thing I noticed was the black line on de niro in that one scene.

It is. I don't know whether they should have been able to do something about it for the BD release - I'm not sure what would be involved in removing it, but you'd think it should be possible with all the digital clean-up processes at their disposal these days.

The line is a defect in the master. Warner was critized for not cleaning it up for this release, but so it goes.

First post folks, but couldn't resist joining this discussion. I have had 2 DVD copies of Goodfellas and rented it from Lovefilm on Blu Ray recently and in the scene after Henry has been released on bail following the drugs bust karen goes to see Jimmy, I guess at his warehouse, she take fright and runs off. As she gets in her car and pulls away from the kerb the license plate on the rear of the car parked in front of her falls off to reveal a different license plate underneath. Its a shot from up high so I can't see what the difference is but I suspect they put a different plate on the car to make it look more authentic to the period or whatever and the blue tac didn't hold.

Interesting blooper in itself I suppose but I must have seen the movie 20 times on DVD and at the movies and didn't notice that once. First time on Blu Ray I see it. Thats the power of Blu Ray!!!

Either that I've seen it so often I'm now looking at different stuff in the shot. The choice is yours.
