I have had my Samsung BD-P1400 for a year now and it has worked fined. The only issues I have had were easily corrected by firmware updates and the firmware was easily downloaded off the Samsung website.
I have read horrible things about this player, but I'd like to hear a few good things, too. Haters have their own thread ... Post ONLY if you like your Samsung BD-P1400. Thanks, Brian |

Have to say I don't have many problems with my bdp-1400. A couple loading issues mainly. But after powering off a few times they all worked. Also a few movies did freeze a little. Other than that i'm pretty happy with it. A new frimware update would be nice though.

its a love/hate relationship for me, some discs play flawlessly on first go, no problems at all, but when you get to the special features, its starts to lose the signal and drop out constantly.
Some discs, the movie drops out and have audio drop outs (Black Hawk Down, Almost Famous, a few others), But I havnt tried them again since loading newer firmware. I use a laptop with blu-ray and the samsung bd-p1400, so if one fails, I jump to the other one. I picked up my Samsung for a good price, and to get a region A model in New Zealand was a wise move. |

I liked my 1400 for the year I had it but I really missed not having DTS-HD MA. So I got rid of it and replaced it with the Panny BD35, which is much better. I also got tired of having to go into settings and select 24P output. The Samsung would switch from 24 to 30 if I didn't turn on my equipment in JUST the right order. The Panny remains in that mode no matter what. If you also consider the Panny is smaller, faster, supports profile 2.0 AND is less expensive, then the Samsung just cannot compete.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not a Samsung hater. I just found something better. |
