AND even though it's not listed, King Kong Vs Godzilla is mentioned toward the bottom of the article as a title that Jon Mulvaney at Criterion "wouldn't comment on whether or not Criterion will attempt to sub-license". A new scan of KKVG (both the American and Japanese versions) would be AMAZING!

Holy shit, day one for All Monsters Attack (and the rest, save DAM/Megalon, don't love them and can live with the current discs barring something like an AIP dub)!

There are pages of discussion about this in the Godzilla thread already. I think that Mulvaney quote is new though.

Release these in a box set a la Zatoichi or Lone Wolf And Cub and I'm sold!

If they could make a deal with Kraken then would could have a potentially complete Showa-era set!

I'd rather have the unreleased movies only, unless it's complete. Adding a few random rereleases would be dumb.

EDIT: Then again, if KKvsG was the only missing one, it would greatly increase the chances of them pushing for it from Universal.

Just curious, does anyone know who has the US rights to the stand-alone Mothra movie?

Even if they don't include the Kraken titles, I can really only see Criterion releasing this as a box set. I don't see them releasing a new Godzilla every few months the way they've done with Chaplin or Bergman. Now, if they can get the AIP dubs of the Kraken releases, that'd be very nice indeed.

I just got Godzilla Raids Again on DVD. You're welcome.

I'd definitely grab a box set full of these, even if it does mean double-dipping. Although, most of these are new to Blu-Ray, aren't they?

I don't even know what this means. Are you saying that is just an alias used by multiple employees when speaking on behalf of the company? I've always just thought it was a real individual. I guess I'm not in with the in crowd.

Columbia owns the rights which is held by Sony.

not likely that Universal will lease King Kong Vs Godzilla as they would stand to make a pile of money from it when the new film gets released. they own the american version outright and i'm not sure what the contract says but it may prevent the japanese version from being released. if not then Japanese version may be all we get from Criterion.

I wonder if these will debut together as a boxed set as Spine 1000 in late 2019? Obviously, that one has to be special, and I'm sure Criterion are already planning it, just as I'm sure they were planning the Olympics box (Spine #900) for several years.

But perhaps it would be too early to reveal their hand now if the release were coming so late? I wonder what else Spine #1000 could be if it's not this?

Unless I’m missing something, it strangely looks like Destroy All Monsters has been removed from STARZ.
