Post Worst/Most Disappointing Steelbooks

What do you guys feel are the most disappointing steelbooks?

Don't use your personal feelings about the movie as a criterion. Judge the steelbook itself (Cover art, Inside art, Non-english language etc)

My List (not complete):

The Horizontal Steelbooks (Universal)(German)

Superman Returns - I don't like the artwork, there were better alternatives

Most Germany steelbooks that change the title to German (For some reason, I don't mind France or other countries doing that)

Honorable Mention

The Lack of a Canadian Twilight: Eclipse steelbook to match the first two.

What steelbooks have you guys been disappointed in?

I don't mind some German words on the cover if the title of the movie is unchanged.

Anyways, this upcomming steel is disappointing to say the least:

Predators UK:
Bad color coordination, red and blue looked ugly IMO, movie details printed on the back, no inside art work, a total let down.

Inglourious Basterds FR:
Spine upside-down, no inside art work, details printed on back. Could have done so much better.

Wolfman AU:
Sticker-book! I will say no more!

German Re-releases:
All with no inside art and printed rating logos, absolute rip off!!!

That's all for now

I don't think I've ever been disappointed. I can only judge ones I own. What I will say though is that I think occasionally a SteelBook is made and I see potential for an even greater one using alternative artwork.

With that in mind (and I may get jumped on for this as I know many like it) the UK Minority Report is my choice. I still like it but every time I look at it I think how awesome the original poster design would have been. A high gloss metallic finish allowing the natural lustre of the steel to show through in the white sections would have been (in my opinion) incredible. Here's a mock-up of my idea:

That would have been a winner for me big time.

That cover looks awesome!
I prefer the UK over the FR one, and I disagreed with you till I saw your cover.

I would state a choice on the topic at hand, but I have a feeling that alot of people here already know which steelbook and absolutely dispised.

I'll give you a hint. Jason Abbey offered to take it off my hands.

I've never been disappointed in a steelbook I've purchased, but I have been over the decision for certain movies to not get the steelbook treatment, primarily a Futureshop Iron Man 2 and Futureshop Transformers 1 to match their prequel/sequel. That's my only real disappointment so far

The UK Kick-Ass one was quite boring, and I especially didn't like the critic quote being basically the only thing on the front other than the title.

I was disappointed with the Canadian Kill Bills Vol. 1 and 2. I saw that the spine was upside and in dual languages, which was the reason why I backed out of getting it.

Another would be the Toy Story 1 and 2 IPs from Futureshop. Why didn't they match the Toy Story IP, or the other way around? I'm OCD like that I suppose...

That's all I can think of at the moment...

Oh, the most disappointing/WORST Steelbooks are the ones that arrive dented, scratched, dinged, etc.

Thumbs down DVD sized.

Any steelbook that is the size of a DVD. And I hate the horizontal steels, they just look stupid.

Thumbs down

Any Stellbook with German logos or UK Logos like on Robin Hood or Psycho i wouldn't want for free. Can't belive people who buy them especially when there are some without logos from other parts of the world like the fugly UK Green Zone vs GER and AU for Ex...

Its comparable to a dented steelbook Imo..

What's the problem with the bluray steelbook being G1? It's really interesting as I don't get why are the people so mad at it. What's the reason?

Because they're a different size to regular Blu-ray cases, so they're inconsistant.

- Got to say I don't agree with this completely. The Colour coordination is fine, however I realise some people got misprints, but could, however, return them for a replacement. The logos were obviously going to be printed so that should have been no surprise from a UK steelbook. Lack of inside art work was crap, agreed.

Don't agree with this. Although the lack of inside art and printed logo's are disappointing I would say that ripoff is not the word. The cost is a fraction of the price (less than half) of the originals. Practically the same price as buying an amaray but you get a steelbook instead. The spines are excellent, nice, centered and clear. A worthy addition to any growing collection. So for the price....I like these steelies.
