Default LBP + headset question

I have the official headset and LBP, but cannot seem to get it to where people can hear me in game. I have the volume set to 3/5 in the accessory/audio setup, and I am getting the headset on screen display meaning it is synced.

Am I supposed to be pushing something to talk, or do I just talk when unmuted?

LBP features an "open mic" system. This means you don't need to press any buttons to talk, like in some Shooter style games.

You won't hear yourself coming over the speakers or through the headset while in game, however. Are you sure the people you're playing with online have a headset? If yes, is it a case of you can hear them, but they can't hear you? If the people don't have a headset, or means of communication, then there won't be anything to indicate whether or not they are receiving you.

One other thing is to make sure that when you are testing your mic in the xmb accessory menu, that after you select your input and output device and make sure they're working properly, is to click on "ok", otherwise the comms will go back to their previous setting when exiting out of that screen.

It tested in XMB fine. Do they have to have a headset to hear me? That may be the issue.

I'm not sure... most of the friends I play with online (actually all of them) have headsets. Most games, just default the output to the speakers, so even if they didn't have a headset themselves, they could hear you talking. I would assume that this would be the case with LBP as well.

They should hear you through the TV speakers if they don't have a headset.

TEST: When you talk, does your sackperson's mouth move? If yes, the problem if most likely the other player.
