Default confused about Insignia 50 in Plasma

I was wondering if anyone has or had the Insignia 50in Plasma .I go by reviews and the people who bought them from Best Buy give their reviews and 32 out of 34 all love it. I even went on CNET and they said for the price it is a good set. I even did the compare and it had just about all the same things that The Samsung / Panasonic and other higher priced Plasmas had. I do not have alot of money right now so would this at least be a good starter Plasma please help

Alright I checked Cnet, only Insignia 50 inch I could find was a 720p plasma for $950 +tax

if you are looking to spend around 1k I would go with

Panasonic Viera TH-50PX80U 50-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV $999 (free shipping)
so it would be cheaper then the Insignia and alot better.

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Vier...1377435&sr=8-1

Go with the Panasoinc

Default Insignia

to crackenhedz just went over to Best Buy and checked out both tvs the Insignia and the Panasonic you bought the Insignias picture was very good. The Panasonic was also very good liked them both. But here is a question I thought that Blu-ray Players worked best on 1080p the Panasonic you bought is 720p can you notice a difference in quality. the farthest seating from my tv now is 8-10 feet [ Hitachi 51 in rear projection picture is awesome on this set ] so which one does everyone suggest

looking at the tv in store will not give you an accurate picture...the picture settings they have them on is crap, plus they have them connected to coaxial cables, not hdmi or component. (at least at the bestbuy I was at)

as for 720p, the picture is still outstanding. Never do I regret 720p.

For the price, id rather have a great 720p set than a subpar 1080p set.

...maybe, maybe not.

If you find a great tv with a killer picture...resolution is not the most important factor. Color decoding, Contrast, Black level, video processing...these play a bigger role.

...also, even though I bought my TV from bestbuy, youd (OP) get a much better deal looking around online. You could probably even find a Panasonic 1080p for the same price as the 720p at bestbuy.

Default insignia

I figured that they weren't set up with good cables. The guy I work with swears by 1080p and says I will not be happy with 768p but i will have it hooked up to a hi def box so the picture will look alot better right. just one more ? how much picture loss between the 1080 / 720?. finished reading on the CNET site that at my vieiwing distance the loss would be almost impossible to see. my hi def future is in your hands

1. 50 inch you want to be 6.5-7.5 feet away more then that go with a 720p
2. Resolution is not all thats important.
3. Dont go with an Insignia over Panasoinc EVER

Did you not read through the other thread you started here?

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=80015

Ignore the posts by the guy who had no clue what he was talking about and concentrate on the facts and professional reviews/information presented. In summary for overall picture quality:

Panasonic 768p plasma >>> Insignia 1080p plasma and many 1080p LCDs
