I liked Orion. I read it back when it first came out, but didn't end up reading additional books in the series.

I like any of his Grand Tour books, he has this effect of transporting you into the world he is writing about.
I have not heard of Him! What does He write about the most, any particular genre?

I'm kind of surprised that no one in this thread has mentioned Bova's Exiles trilogy:

Exiled from Earth (1971)
Flight of Exiles (1972)
End of Exile (1975)

This was the series I read back in high school prior to tackling Asimov's Foundation novels, and it has a good deal to do with why I'm a science fiction fan now. The Exiles stories are widely considered young adult fiction despite the bleak setting of the first novella and some of the dark elements that pop up in the series. Exiled from Earth takes place in a dystopian future where the Earth is grossly overpopulated and society starts to break down. In the midst of this, the World Government determines that a genetics project is too dangerous to continue so all the researchers associated with it must be rounded up and exiled to a large satellite orbiting the Earth. Flight of Exiles deals with the descendants of the first story and is largely a murder mystery. Several generations have passed by the time End of Exile begins. The exiles have turned into a religious cult and are unaware of the impending danger that they all face.

The series, although unapologetically pulpy with its old school storytelling and action-oriented plots, is highly accessible, making it a great starting point for adolescents or folks who are intimidated by SF with difficult concepts or hard science. Bova covers a fair bit of ground in these three compact novels by focusing on different themes, so the story never gets stale. No one is ever going to confuse this series with the all-time greatest science fiction classics, but it is still worthwhile for anyone interested in old school SF.
