Default Definitive Versions of Classic Albums...

Hey all, I've been meaning to do this for a while.

Now that I have the means by which to start perfecting my music collection, I thought I'd query some of the experts on what versions of my favorite classics I should track down. I encourage others to ask as well.

I'll list the album and my assumption of what the definitive version is, and if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

The Who - Who's Next - 200g LP (I know there's an MFSL version... but wow, is it expensive.)
The Who - Tommy - SACD

Yes - Fragile - DVD-A (is this really preferable to the $25 MFSL CD version?)
Rick Wakeman - Journey to the Centre of the Earth - MFSL CD (What about the Sweet Thunder LP? And what's the difference between the Gold MFSL and Silver MFSL pressings?)

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick - MFSL CD
Jethro Tull - Aqualung - 24 karart MFSL CD

Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive - ? (There are about 1000 different versions of this album...)

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours - DVDA
John Coltrane - Blue Train - Stereo SACD
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue - MC SACD
Herbie Hancock - Headhunters - ?
Steely Dan - AJA - recent 180g vinyl ed.
Eagles - Hotel California - DVDA

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds (I have the DVDA, but I hate the MC mix - I heard there's a great Harvest import...)

That's all I have for now. I appreciate everyone's help!

ausamerika.
