Default How do I get the BEST AUDIO POSSIBLE from my system?

I have no audio knowledge, pretty much, and i need to know what I need to do to put this stuff together. Is HDMI all I need to the receiver? Do I need other cables? No idea, any help from you guys is greatly appreciated!

I just bought these items after a lot of research, I've had blu for a while but time to upgrade to a full set up (never had speakers before in any way).

HDTV: Sony XBR9 46"
Sound System: Onkyo HT-S9100THX 7.1 package
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance
Blu Player: OPPO BDP-83

will also be hooking up Apple TV, and XBOX360 elite to the receiver via hdmi. ps3 movin to the bedroom with the 32" xbr6

But in order to get the best sound possible out of everything, what do I need to do? Thanks a bunch!

Yes, you are correct, just the HDMI cable from your receiver to your TV, all the other componenets can hook up through your receiver so you can enjoy the sound as well as the technology from the receiver.

Wouldn't that be nice.

You will need to spend time with the manuals and the configurations for each piece of equipment.

I betcha you could build a better system than the HITB you're looking at for the same price

Edit: BTW you get the "best possible audio" by staying away from a HTIB.

Well the title of your thread is somewhat misleading because it starts with "if". Sorry though. I have a feeling we'll hear more from you in a few months(at least 2) about trying to build a better system. I mean dude, you have a kick-ass TV and bluray player but you are short changing yourself in the audio department. I only wanted to look out for a fellow Chicagoan. That's just my .02.

heck yes ... nothing automatic is right ...you need to set speaker level and check when litsenning, set the speakers distance as well ... your receiver should come with a microphone to simplify this procedure ... but I do not trust that POS, just set it manually and have fun doing that ... You can also set up professionally if you buy the SPL meter at RR and follow the instructions of how to set it ... ... pick your sweet spot and start from there buddy ...

I changed the title of the thread to "How do I get the BEST AUDIO POSSIBLE from my system?". I belive it is more appropriate.

oh, you home theater nuts crack me up

always appreciate help from a fellow chicagoan, but i don't have the time/patience/effort/desire to put together a piece by piece system. i've researched HTIB's, and decided the ONKYO was the best out there for around that price! i think you would at least agree to that...

Okidoki! Have fun and do PM me or post a different thread when you're ready to upgrade If you really need help installing and calibrating your system let me know... I feel that you and I don't live too far from each other.
