Default "Band of Brothers" series

What are the chances that the "Band of Brothers" war series will go Blu-Ray? Has anyone read any words that might hint of the possiblity?

Band of Brothers is HBO who are owned by Time Warner.

If it is released within the next year it will be on both formats.

...even though I already own the DVDs, I am also eagerly awaiting this on BR. High-Def Digest lists BoB as "Release Date Pending", meaning H-DD got wind (at some point) of a press release or something else from HBO stating they intend to release BoB on BR, just no set date yet.

2009 is the D-Day anniversary, so unless Band of Brothers 2: Japanese Boogaloo is going to air sooner, it'll probably come out then

Talking It is coming

It has been stated that Band of Brothers is coming at some point. hidefdigest.com has it listed in thier release line up under release date TBD. This is going to be an incredible addition to the blu-ray collection. It will be expensive but it is well worth it!!!!

I am currently planning on the Blu release of BoB, as I just listed my DVD on eBay. They better not make me wait too long.

What scares me is what they'll charge for it.

I probably shouldn't have been drinking coffee when I read that.

I don't think you are likely to find O-Zone and Turbo in it.

I think every sequel should have boogaloo in the title

I probably shouldn't say this, but BOB IS on HD DVD in Japan (Toshiba has the J rights)

Default Out today on HD DVD in Japan

Believe it or not, it just came out today in Japan on HD DVD: http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl...ial%26hs%3DDEj

This is a translated page from a daily Japanese AV web site. Scroll down a bit and then click on the BOB artwork. That'll take you to amazon - japan where you can place an order. I just checked the site in Japanese and it is true! Ready to order out today! Damn! How did that happen? HD DVD is so non-existant here (I'm in Nagasaki). I haven't seen one HD DVD player in any store other a very expensive recorder model. Go figure.

Edit: For some reason the link is showing up in Japanese - use your favorite web page translating service to do it in English.

I just got the DVD set last Christmas from Costco for $35 and have been watching it this week. The picture quality even on DVD is awesome. Since I'm the only one in the household that watches these types of films, i don't think I can justify buying it again on BD.

Band of Brothers is the greatest WWII movie/miniseries ever. Period.

Toshiba released these in Japan on HD DVD one disc at a time. The price for the whole series is $200. Worth it to me (I'll gladdly play that much for it on Blu-ray when it comes out), but not to everyone.

But hey, at least Toshiba uses AVC!

No argument from me there. It is truly a moving, visceral, amazing experience that no-one should miss.

Amazon has this listed in 5 different volumes.

Is it not available in one set?

...how 'bout "BoB and the Temple of Doom"? or "BoB 2: Lost in New York"?

Use http://www.cdjapan.co.jp

All english, and faster/cheaper shipping

Miniseries and the like in Japan are intended mostly for rental. 24 is released on 12 discs over there.

Blu owns 96% of the market in Japan, if Toshiba didn't own these films over there, they would never have come out in HD.

I though it was available in one set from an article I read a while back, but maybe they went this route instead.
