Default Speaker/Listener Fatigue

So I recently watched a DVD with a fair bit of bass, more than I usually deal with. After about 40 minutes my ears began to feel tired, my head felt quite dull. Is this speaker/listener fatigue?
How do I combat it to reduce or possibly remove it? Is it due to my bass being set too high on all my speakers, so should I raise the frequencies to leave more bass for the sub?

I have never had that experience and I LOVE bass. Maybe you were just having a bad day?

Take your Bass down a notch or two & test it , then repeat till satisfied. What DVD was it? Or it could be an issue with you're hearing/ear's...

Sounds like a problem with bloated mid-bass. You may need a new sub.

Listener fatigue typically occurs in one of two scenarios. The first case is if you listen to very high volumes for an extended period of time without giving your ears a break. The second case is if the original sound recording or the speaker themselves are accentuating high-treble frequencies and you listen to that for an extended period. The second case is why some can not listen to "bright" speakers or do not prefer them as they can be irritating.

Bloated mid bass? Define that please. I've also only had my current sub for less than a month. Not rebuying yet.

What sub do you have? What speaker do you have? What movie is it?

Monitor Audio Bronze Series, the Sub is a BRW-10. The film was in fact an Episode of Stargate Atlantis.
