Arrow And The Sheriff Of Nottingham Is...

With all the hub bub about Russell Crowe as Robin Hood, the planet that doesn't really care one way or the other about the rest of the casting for this movie has one more reason to read some news and go, "Meh."

The official website for Matthew Macfadyen has confirmed that he's been cast as The Sheriff of Nottingham:

Matthew's agent, Christian Hodell, has confirmed that he will be playing the Sheriff of Nottingham in the new Robin Hood movie. Shooting for Matthew will occur in May and June.

Don't know who Matthew Macfayden is? He was last seen in Frost/Nixon I believe. Didn't see Frost/Nixon? It's now out on DVD. Don't have a DVD player? They're cheap at Target. Don't live near a Target? They also have cheap ones at Wal-Mart. Don't have a Wal-Mart near you? They sell cheap ones online. Don't know how to order online? Then you're screwed and I'm done talking to you.

Nice find. Has he been in anything else besides Frost/Nixon recently?

it should also be noted that the Sheriff character is “less important” in this incarnation, and that the main villain of the story is actually the country of France

They are going back to the story as it was in the early days of movies, Normand vs Saxon. I am still very hype for this movie

Well I just think that means there will be more epic battles in this one than there were in the previous incarnations. I just hope this movie lives up to what I consider to be two great movies about Robin Hood.

Hopefully he'll be as good as Keith Allen.

Sometimes an unknow actor is the ideal fit for the role. This project looks to be on the right track.

Hey! The eyes and demeanor in that photo (of Macfadyen) remind me of Alan Rickman... Ironic! Just me or does anyone else see some resemblance?
