Thumbs up Sony launches slim TV

Quote:
SONY will today launch the world's thinnest telly - slimmer even than a slice of toast. The £3,000 TV, the latest in the Japanese firm's Bravia range, is just 9.9mm thick. That is 60 TIMES slimmer than a typical set from the 1950s. It is so thin because tiny LED lights usually illuminating the flat screen from behind have been placed round the sides.

WOW!!! Sony leading the way to innovation.

So, the 6.5mm Samsung doesn't count? How about the 9mm Pioneer Plasma?

Maybe it's just me but when TVs get thinner than 1" that's too thin for me. I don't want a TV that I can break up like a cookie.

i think the point is to show that technology is advancing, it is probably not practical for most of us but companies want to show their capabilities when it comes to R&D

Yeah that's a little too thin, I like how the stand itself (pardon pun) "stands out" in the picture, good stuff though.
