Commercials, speeded up content, is that good? Or do you always watch the Blu-Ray?

1) On my player - definitely, most of the time. I can watch what I want when I want and how I want. I don't rent either because I feel obligated to block out viewing time.
2) On TV - not much. There isn't much that's worth seeing on regular TV. Too many crap shows. May watch an occasion movie here and there just to see if it's worthwhile to buy. I use the TV broadcasts for background noise sometimes if I'm on the computer. My computer is hooked up to my 50" TV so I do split screens when I'm on the computer. 3) In the theater - occasionally, some movies have to be seen on a BIG screen first. Others are just a waste of money. 4) On-line - never more than an occasional trailer. Don't have the time or patient to go through the streaming or downloading. 5) Ipod - never. Don't want to see anything on small screens in any way. 6) Computer/laptop - never. Prefer to see my movies on the full TV screen not on a desktop window. |

That's a silly question. You might as well ask, "Do you perfer to watch movies: (A) in a dark theater on a giant screen with great sound which takes your whole attention; or, (B) while cooking lunch for the kids who are running around the living room, with the phone ringing, the laundry needing folding, the dog scratching at the door, the films colors are washed out, the sound muddled, and two noses talk to each other in Acadamy ratio?" ![]() Some people perfer the latter, but not those who buy Blu-rays and post here. To answer: I perfer my home theater. It's like a movie theater except there are no cell phones or teenagers. Also, it has a bigger selection. For example; the local theaters might have one Eastwood movie. Mine has the entire Dirty Harry series. Plus, mine is closer to home and has a better wine list. |

If I want to watch a movie, I will buy it and play it in my theater. I never watch movies on tv because it ruins them completely. Commercials, tv network bugs, pop unders filling half the damn screen just ticks me off and takes you out of the movie.

I won't watch movies on network or most basic cable stations unless they're made-for-TV movies (like 24: Redemption). It simply bothers me when they chop them up with commercial breaks and modify the content to fit the timeframe, not to mention editing for adult content. There are exceptions of course, like Turner Classic Movies. No editing there. And I'll watch movies on premium channels like HBO as well.
At the end of the day though, for home viewing, nothing beats a blu-ray (or hell, even a DVD if need be.). |
