Sharp just came out with the LC-52D92U and LC-46D92U. Both of these LCD screens have a 4MS response time and a dynamic contrast ratio of 15,000:1 with 120HZ refresh rate. 60HZ material is converted to 120HZ. The only major disappointment these LCD’s appear to not have a 1080P/24 input. These 120HZ LCD’s would be perfect if they would accept 1080p/24 input. The documentation and review does not mention 1080P/24 input.
Here is a doc and review if anyone is interested in reading it http://www.sharpusa.com/files/tel_dow_AQUOS_Full_Line_0107.pdf http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/hdtvs/2233/sharp-aquos-lc-52d92u-52-inch-lcd-hdtv.html Last edited by HDTV1080P; 04-26-2007 at 05:20 AM. |

Looks delisious! Thanks for the link. Now, if that would still be 120Hz in the Pal model (100Hz for Pal/120Hz for NTSC plus 120Hz for 24/P) and not have un overscan (as other Sharps do I believe) than that would be an investment to consider.

Yeah and seems to have 1:1 pixel mapping. Lots of small things that can make out videophile/film lover hearts flutter waiting for the perfect displays
It's strange if it doesn't have have 24p -> 120 Hz output as that would be perfect and straightforward (It's doing 60 ->120 already) Hopefully it will. If not, well, Tomorrow is Another Day Last edited by Deciazulado; 04-26-2007 at 10:24 AM. |

The Sharp LC-52D92U does not have a 1080P/24 input.
Quote from Sound and Vision magazine “The set's HDMI connections wouldn't accept 1080p/24-fps signals but had no problem with 1080p/60 signals from a Blu-ray Disc player.” http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/hdtvs/2219/test-bench-sharp-aquos-lc-52d92u-52-inch-lcd-hdtv.html Also some professional magazines have made an error and have said the Sharp is 120HZ refresh rate (p. 30 of June 2007 Home theater magazine is just one example). Here is a quote from PC magazine “Although the LC-52D92U is the first Sharp LCD to offer 120-Hz "frame rate conversion," buyers should know this is not the same as true 120-Hz imaging. And given its price, I'm disappointed that the LC-52D92U's ineffective video processor did little to minimize jagged edge artifacts in standard and high-definition sources.” “My hopes of Sharp's 120-Hz imaging eliminating the judder introduced when processing 24-fps video were dashed when I could discern no difference between it and traditional 60-Hz displays. But viewing the same content on the Pioneer PRO-940HD plasma television with its 72-Hz (3x24) display function resulted in impressively smooth (judder free) panning shots in our favorite movies.” http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2102097,00.asp |

Sounds like a great TV. It's not available in the UK yet.
