Default any simple, no clutter systems?

are there any simple, no clutter systems in the range of $300-$500? I bought a 5.1 set last year and there are too many wires, and something is broken. I have only used the central speaker from it. The receiver itself has a thousand inputs and half I don't even know what they do. Is there something that is simply plug and play, and includes everything? Doesn't need 5 speakers but maybe 2-3 to cover the whole range, and receiver? ... something simple like audioengine music speakers where you just plug it in simply, and play. thanks for the tips!

If simple and easy is the be all end all, then perhaps you should look at a sound bar or something like a Bose Cinemate. A co-worker has the Sony HT-CT500 and he likes it very much.

thanks that is the kind of thing I'm looking for, anything is better than my current set - up which is just the receiver and the central speaker
