The 42" for $900

They state that the 50" has 1024 x 768 resolution, but I'm pretty sure it's 1366x768 and the 42" is 1024 x 768.

How much do you think the THX 50-inch TC-P50G10 will go for?

Yeah, one keeps expecting the 'next' generation models will be the last of the 720p sets, they keep hanging in there though. You wouldn't think there would be much of a manufacturing cost difference between the two panels now, and the fact that most folks like to see those magic letters "1080p" when they head to the store ......

On the flip side, for those that have not made the jump to HD programing yet, the 720p sets can sometimes 'mate up' better with the native signal and give a better pic than their 1080 counterparts.

The fact of the matter is when you buy a 1080P panel, you're going to pay about $300 and up upgrade from 720P to 1080P. With the markets current condition, i can see why manufacturers are still bringing out new 720P sets. And it's a smart decision on their part, they'd rather make a sale for $900 than no sale at all.

Agree 100% , plus like I noted, sometimes it's even to the consumers benefit to go 720p vrs. 1080.
