Coraline OK for kids? - Blu-ray Forum

I saw Coraline yesterday. Stop-motion-animation masterpiece. It was very dark in the final third.

Has anyone taken their kids to see this?

I would like to hear how this movie affected kids of different ages.

There were a few but not many kids when I went, probably around 5 and up to 12 or so. No crying, no complaining, no questions during the film.

Thanks. I am hoping to hear from some parents. It seems like this movie could "stick" with some of the real young ones. As you know, there were some potent images. Nightmares etc...

I am as interested in the answer to your question as you are; I haven't seen it yet and have a 3 year old who loves Corpse Bride.

Sorry I don't have kids, but I would have to assume this wasn't too suitable for the young ones. I went and saw it at 11 at night and didn't see any kids. It was pretty adult in a lot of ways. Granted it would be fine for those parents with mature kids. Like I saw a lot of crazy stuff as a kid and was taught to make the distinction between reality and fantasy. I saw It when I was under 10 LOL. Did anyone else think the old lady at the theater performance was naked?? It looked pretty adult at that point.

And pretty disturbing. As far as if anyone is on the fence about going to see it. Don't wait any longer!! This movie was awesome to see on the big screen in 3D, and it was a good story. I don't think many will be disappointed at all. But for the youngens, know that it is a very dark movie. Proceed with caution.

I took my kids. They were cool with it - no problem. It's dark, yes. But some of the more recent Harry Potter films are even darker and they had no problem with them. When we were buying tickets there was a woman and her son in the lobby who left the previous showing because it was "too weird."

It's not your average sugary Disney-style children's film. But I loved it and my kids did as well. Great eye candy to boot.

Not a fan of Tim Burton movies so i proablly wont check this movie out but to me at least it looks to dark and creepy for little ones

Wait... isn't this suppose to be aimed towards kids? It's only PG, and doesn't seem to be as dark as Nightmare Before Christmas.

any movie that has a song about how to try to bump off Santa Claus definately falls into the 'dark' catagory.

I actually went to watch it with my wife and there were several kids there...

A couple with a young one had to leave and a little girl sitting in front of with her parents was scared and crying during the last sequences... after watching it I don't think I'll have my kid watching it in a couple years...

I loved it... but I think it was too dark for kids...
