They must have moved the link. Here it is ...

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Sony-...war-1239.shtml

Sony must read this forum. I had suggested this idea months ago to avoid a format war and "pissing off the customer base". You know how fickle we can be. The loser becomes the despised company that no one will buy their products out of boycott. "You sold me this now worthless piece of ...."

Toshiba is just making Sony sweat it out in hopes the offer gets better. Sony has MOST of the backing. Not the technical 51%, but 90% or more. The battle is won, all that is left is for HD-DVD to lay down it's weapons.

Sony, you want a real comprimise? Offer to keep the name HD-DVD on the blu-ray product. HD-DVD is a much better marketing name. People know what hi-def is, and they know what DVD is. blu-ray? I know plenty of people would be clueless unless it was explained 10 times. They associate with a name, not a technology.

I don't care how many of you have mothers who know what blu-ray is....the majority of people do not. HD-DVD is a better name, and right now, that is all they have going for them.
