Default Lost: Buying Season Sets vs Complete Series?

I was really expecting the Complete Series Set to look better in my opinion but from the pictures they don't look that would look good on my shelf. I would of settled for a Book Style like The OC or Friends has. Anyone know what extra you will be getting if you buy the Complete Series? I was gonna buy The Complete Series then get a printer and buy some blu-ray cases and then put the discs in the cases with having the Complete Series as just a design for my shelf. I think if all that is even worth it. I like have DVDs and Blu-Rays in more of a book form. Which version are you getting and why?

All bonus materials from seasons 1-6
A unique series of featurettes that takes viewers on very personal tours of Oahu where the series was created, with key cast and crew as they reflect.
Exploring the global phenomenon that is Lost, bonus showcases events ranging from the series cast and crew at San Diego's famed Comic-Con convention to international voice recordings, local events and even fan parties, all of which helped make the show into a worldwide favorite.
A closer look at some of the props with cast, writers and producers, exploring their significance, stories and emotional ties to the characters.
Humorous-yet-emotional look at every character who died on the series
Sixteen "Slapdowns" featurettes showcasing celebrity Lost fans who confront executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse to ask press questions about the final season, including the Muppets and cast members Nestor Carbonell, Michael Emerson, Rebecca Mader and more.

As far as I know, there is at least one new extra feature in the full series collection that a completist LOST fan would like to have:

[Show spoiler]A newly produced video segment (don't know how long or how relevant) of Hurley and Ben's life in the island as a team, alluded by the characters in the final episode.

It will also be on the individual set of season 6

Yeah, I hope it's just several minutes of them answering every single question that was never answered in the crappy last season. But, I know that ain't gonna happen. Sigh...

I was very relieved when I read that as they announced the discs. It's the only feature I really care about, and I am very glad they aren't going to make us buy a whole box set to get it.

I don't blame anyone for not getting the complete set, but as bad as the last season was in resolving things we deserved to know (and I'm a reasonable person and didn't every last one explained), this is the rare show that meant enough to me that I will always have it as a top 10 show all time. Also, it looks so good on Blu and, again, despite the final season fail, it has huge replay value for me.

Couple that with the $120 I got for seasons 1-5 because I sold early and a $50 giftcard I had, it was just a no-brainer to get the complete series from Amazon. Am I happy with how it turned out, with the crazy packaging and stupid trinkets when I'd rather have even a 2 hour sit down with the main cast and a unique but not crazy ass packaging? Not really.

But when it's one of your favorite shows all time, as it it with me, I would have made myself nuts not having the mediocre special features they gave us.

Finally, I really don't know how much Blu I'll ever get for tv shows, so I'm glad to have this even more. I don't see any sitcoms worth getting in HD, even 30 Rock. I just watch sitcoms so randomly and don't expect to be blown away. I doubt I'll upgrade old shows...I'm 40, married, and with 2 kids so movies, yes, tv not so much. Just not enough time for the SD I already own as it is. The only shows on now, I'm sure I'd get on Blu are House and Big Love. Tru Blood season 2 was not good for me, but season 1 was and 3 has been excellent so far, but if they keep it good, I'd prefer a complete series for that as well.

Hey, I had a bottle of wine, after completing a project for work to be presented on Friday, so my iPhone is spinning as I type and I know that I've rambled my ass off. Sorry, but it was "talk" to you or the guys on ESPN. I chose you.

See, I think that BECAUSE of the final season fail, it has VERY LITTLE replay value. The finale basically makes the entire show meaningless.

Apparently you didn't get it - even though there is a line of dialogue that specifically disproves what you are saying.

I bought Season 1 on DVD and have been holding off on the rest for the complete series blu-ray. I can't wait for August.

Here we go. I got it alright.

I know the line of dialogue you mention. It was a cheap add by the writers because they knew everybody would say what I said. And rightly so.

[Show spoiler]How could any of that stuff on the island been "real" or "really have happened"? His dad was dead. There's no such thing as smoke monsters, time travel or possessing dead people's bodies. A cheap line about everything really happening is not enough for me to go, "Oh. Well then. It was all real. That explains it!"

Wow, thanks for using common courtesy towards all of us who were waiting for the dvd/blu release to watch the final season. They were nice enough to include spoiler tags, do us all a favor next time and use them. Just cause you hated the ending doesnt give you the right to ruin it for the rest of us. That is ridiculous.

Just out of curiosity Chet....if you're going to argue about how there's no such thing as this or that
[Show spoiler](smoke monsters for example)
what made you watch the show all the way to the finale? You could've stopped watching just a few episodes into the first season when you got your first glimpse of the Smoke Monster.

I truly loved every minute of the series and can't wait to buy season 6 on day one!

Oh, you're welcome. Since I didn't give anything away, I didn't need to use spoiler tags.

I truly loved every minute of seasons 1 - 5. I like mystery, suspense, drama, etc. But for the writers to jerk everybody around on this series by introducing new question after new question with no intent to give a reasonable answer is just mean. No wonder they had those goofy lookin smug looks on their faces during every single interview or commentary. I've devoted so much time to this series (watching every behind the scenes featurette, Lost University, etc.) And for the writers to not explain things is a slap in the face.

Obviously, I could have turned it off when the smoke monster appeared, but I figured that, since they asked the question, they'd eventually give us the answer. I'm not even looking for a LOGICAL explanation. I would have been happy with at least a thought out explanation. Not just a one sentence acknowledgement of the question.

I guess I fail to see how the Smoke Monster wasn't explained.

any1 know how many minutes the complete series extras/bonus will be? i'm debating on whether to just 'rent' it or borrow it from a friend vs. selling my 5 seasons now and getting the entire thing.

i have a sneaky suspicion that those bonus/extras are just the TV extras/bonus things from ABC's broadcast a few hrs before the finale.

I already bought seasons 1-5 individually so I'll just grab season 6. It's rumored that Best Buy will have an exclusive edition of 6.
