Was looking at the Elemental Designs speakers(6T6 Towers, 6T6 Center) but lately been debating Polk. Looking for options in the $600 range for the front and $600 for the rear 4 channels. Definatley want floorstanding in the front. When I upgrade the speakers I will go L/C/R. then the surrounds.

Any Of Those Will Work Just Depends On What Sounds Good To Your Ear, Are You Going To Get The Speakers Before The Tv? I Would Recommend The Onkyo Receiver

Planning on at least getting the fronts before the TV. I need to update the sig. Right now I really only have 2 choices for a receiver.

Cool, I Have Had Nothing But Great Success With Onkyo And If You Look On Ebay There Are Some Great Deals As Well:d You Might Want To Check Out Klipsch For Speakers The Have Some Great Deals Going On Right Now. Polk Are Great Speakers Too My Only Advice Is To Truly Listen To The Speakers First Before You Buy, A Good Quality Speaker Is Always Better To Spend The Money On They Will Last A Long Time

I like your set up, it's a good starting point. I started with a 5.1 Kenwood HTIB many years ago and moved up to another 5.1 Kenwood (DTS capable) about a year later. After a few years I upgraded to a 6.1 Onkyo HTIB and just last year I started upgrading. I'm sure little by little you'll be adding bigger and better things to your set up. Keep it up!

Yeah like I said, there will be new wall paint, carpet, furniture as well as the concealing of wires(better wires 12 or 14ga), moving the location of outlets lower on walls, and building a custom display case(built in) on the wall above the fireplace(will try and get some pics of said wall tonight).

Thanks for the replies so far.

Any recomendations?

On another note, would it hurt to have the center channel mounted above the TV but not as far forward, meaning almost on the wall. Using something like this
http://www.everythingfurniture.com/l...n-ledge-1.html

Or is placing it on the stand in front of the TV a decent idea. Afraid that my new center will not be able to go on the TV case itself.

And another "question" regarding celing color. The celing is currently a sprayed "popcorn" type. the wife is wanting to have a smooth finish, AKA alot of work sanding etc. What color should the celing end up if the carpet is a dark, and I mean dark gray called thunder cloud(http://www.georgiacarpet.com/silk-n-...nder-cloud.jpg)[the color is right but not the design). The walls a Spanish tile red (http://www.myperfectcolor.com/v/vspf...C0098746-2.jpg). With trim painted flat black.

Well I might offer to help you out if there wasn't a Seminole banner hanging on the wall. haha jk.

Anyways like someone said before just make sure to listen and purchase speakers that sound good to YOU! People can give you all sorts of suggestions about speakers but personally its up to you (I'd go with the Polks over the ED's though) And this hobby is a process don't try to make everything happen right now with one budget, buy things in steps and you'll be able to get better equipment thus resulting in you being happier down the road. Just my two cents though

Damn, That's pretty sweet. The wall color, carpet and chairs go so well with eachother. You need some more pics though. Still...IT ROCKS

+1

Demo the speakers you are interested in before buying them. Not sure you'll be able to do that with the eD speakers though. Polk is an excellent brand, and with a $600 budjet for your fronts, you'll be able to look at some of their upper end stuff. Check out their RTi line and look on ebay, they sell factory refurbished speakers with warranties and all.

I think your room definately has potential!

Update:

Carpet color is staying the same. We are debating painting the walls a Lighter grey color(Bottom color http://a123.g.akamai.net/f/123/12465...9.jpg?size=hhl)
