Default Updating Firmware on BD-350

Hello everyone!
I have a Sony BD-350 and i am tryin to do the firmware update to the .015. But i cant seem to figure out how to do it. Is the only way to do it is to hook it up to the internet via ethernet cable? i tried doing it via flash drive but when i put it in i get nothing. any help would be appreciated. On a side note blurays looks great with this player

Going through the Internet is by far the best way.

You can also find the update at the Sony site:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...=BDPS350&LOC=3

Then you can burn a .ISO file to a disk and do it. But go with the internet connection if you have one handy.

If you have a "live" internet connection via ethernet wire, then most certainly you can update the Sony BDP-S350 firmware. There's more to it than just connecting it. Go to the players menu and under the "Network Update" item choose to update the player. As long as you don't have to program specific Proxy settings for use with your ISP, the player should download the proper update (at this point, version .015) and update the firmware.

You can find additional information on this on page 40 of your owners manual.

If you want to update via your own CD from Sony's eSupport page, here what to do (quoted from The Sony BDP-S350 Review Thread).

Navigate to the file and double-click on it. It will then ask for a location to "extract" it. What you are doing here is creating an "image file," or more technically called an ISO file, which will be written to your hard drive in your chosen location for it. THIS is the file you want to burn to a blank CD-R.

Use any reputable CD-burning program to burn the image file to a CD. However, please note that you cannot simply burn the image file as data CD, but you need to chose the burning program's option to "burn image" (or similar) to the CD-R. This is absolutely the most critical part of the CD-making process for these firmware updates. A "data CD," written with the ISO file on it, will not work. It needs to be burned with your burning software's "image burning" option.

After a successful burn, turn on your TV, choose the Blu-ray input, place the CD onto your Sony BDP-S350 disc tray and close it. After a moment, you will be prompted (on your TV) to update your player. Use your player's remote control to select the update option, and it will all take place for you.

Keep in mind that there are nine steps to the updating process, and it does not go by all too quickly. It took my player nearly ten minutes to complete the updating (8 min, 40 secs to be exact) of version .015 (about the same time for version .010 as well). You may think things are going wrong, but it just takes a little while. You'll see the steps progressing along on the player's fluorescent display.

After the updating is complete, your Sony player will eject the disc and power itself down. This ensures that the firmware will be active when you next use your player. Power it up, and navigate to your player's settings menu to verify you now have software version .015.

Voila! You're all done!

Download the firmware update. (remember where you saved it)

Download/install DVD Decrypter.

Place a blank cd in the drive.

Open dvd decrypter, go to:

Mode -> ISO -> Write

...select the firmware location.

...Then Burn.

Just order the CD software from Sony support and it'll arrive in 2 days, not that slow...no hassle! What's 2 days compared to have been waiting for months for update?
