Didn't see an official thread for this release so thought I would start one.

Pre-ordered!

This aught to be a lot of fun. I still remember Zeus visiting my middle school for one of those "Say no to Drug" type assemblies shortly after this came out.

Damn I wish he would have visited my school. I remember the whole Hogan / Zeus feud in WWE (WWF in those days) after the movie came out. I have a fan made DVD which has the movie plus all the extras and matches / interviews that came after.

This is obviously just a fun / silly movie, and while I don't think any of Hogans films would be considered "good cinema," I have to say I would welcome a Blu Ray transfer of Suburban Commando.

That movie was helped tremendously by Christopher Lloyd.

Added to my wishlist, saw this in theaters back in the day and remember watching this film along with the steel cage match on PPV back in the day, good times!

Good news. I was pissed that the UK release was region locked.

So either Warner Bros. no longer owns this (through New Line) or this just disproves the myth that warner Bros. does not licenses their catalog.

WWE has had this for a while now. They released a DVD a while back. It was originally issued by Sony/RCA/Columbia on VHS, so I don't think WB ever had this.

AFAIK, it's Sony's film, and they licensed it to Image (like they have many other titles).

As Blu2u indicated, the film was released on DVD as a WWE Studios release last year.

New Line Cinema handled the theatrical distribution and RCA/Columbia handled the VHS distribution, but I'm pretty sure this film is owned outright by Vince McMahon and WWE Studios. The film was coyrighted in 1989 under the WWF pseudonym, Shane Distribution Company, and the copyright appears to have been renewed under WWE Studios in 2012.

This was the very last movie on my want to see released on DVD list. Now one year later, it's out on Blu-Ray? Guess I'll have to buy it again.

Better late than never! I was puzzled when they released this on DVD only despite a new HD transfer yet entire sets of SD content (Clash of the Champions, War Games) received Blu-rays. And honestly I was kind of pissed when I saw it was then released in other countries with no word on a US release. I'm really happy I didn't give in and get the DVD.

As awful as it was, they might as well cover the "real life" feud between Hogan and Zeus.
  • Hulk Hogan vs. Big Boss Man - Steel Cage Match - SNME (aired 05/27/1989)
  • Hulk Hogan/Brutus Beefcake vs. Randy Savage/Zeus - Summerslam (08/28/1989)
  • Hulk Hogan vs. Ted Dibiase - SNME (aired 10/14/1989)
  • The Hulkamaniacs vs. The Million Dollar Team - Survivor Series (11/23/1989)
  • Hulk Hogan/Brutus Beefcake vs. Randy Savage/Zeus - Steel Cage Match - No Holds Barred: The Match/The Movie (aired 12/27/1989)
  • Bonus: Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage vs. The Alliance to End Hulkamania - Doomsday Cage Match - Uncensored (03/24/1996)

It came in the UK on BD, fairly recently. Unfortunately, they released it in 1080i/50hz, but the actual image quality is pretty decent. If they can use that same transfer, at the correct frame-rate, then it should please quite a few people.

+1..... Gotta see this in HD for the "I was frozen TODAY!" line.
