Default do lcds wear out even when not in use?

I am thinking of upgrading to an 120Hz LCD as I can't stand the judder, especially when it is panning. I am very sensitive to it. I am also sensitive to flickering. People don't believe me when I say I can sense the flickering on flourescent light bulbs and on 60Hz LCDs. When I was using a CRT monitor I put the refresh at like 100 or so IIRC; 75Hz was unbearable. With LCD displays it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue.

Anyway, I was wondering, if I store the LCD HDTV in a closet somewhere, would it still wear out? I want to keep it around as a backup.

I can't see how it would if you weren't using it. I'm sure another member that is more technically savvy will pipe up though.
